Een dagje in de sneeuw! Zalig rolle bollen en ravotten met een golden pup, genaamd Clouseau! Hij wordt opgeleid tot blindegeleidehond en mocht even lekker hond zijn en zo de spelregels tussen honden leren.

Ja meisje, ik ben klaar met dat toestel…..

A day in the snow at the age of 1 year and 9 months now (ye, time flies). Great rolling around and playing with a golden pup, named Clouseau! He is trained to become a blind guide dog and was able to be a normal dog for a while and learn the rules between dogs this way.

Wij vonden het heerlijk om naar haar te kijken toen ze afgelopen zondag zo lekker lag te chillen! Ok, gewoon relaxen mag ook! Is ze niet gewoon om op te eten? Eindelijk kreeg ik het voor elkaar om een foto van haar te maken, terwijl ze als een kikker met haar achterpootjes gespreid ligt. Normaal springt ze gelijk op als ik de kamer binnen kom met mijn fototoestel, maar dit keer bleef ze rustig liggen, alsof ze zeggen wilde: ga je gang maar! Dit is echt haar favoriete manier van slapen buiten de bench! Vooral die knuffel doet het dan he!  Ze sleept hem overal mee naartoe!

We just loved watching this last sunday…ain’t she just adorable? It is so cute so see and this time she didn’t jump up when I entered the room for a picture with the camera in my hands!  She just stayed calm as if she wanted to say: ok, go ahead and do it, if you have to! So finally we caught her in the froggy way of laying down with her last legs spread out flat! It is her favorite way of sleeping outside the bench. Especially the stuffed toy (a lab) she loves and drags it all around the house with her!

Stuiterballetje/ Jumping Ball

Yes, that is the nickname for our Flopke! Since autumn arrived she is really jumping up and down like a bowling ball! And I heard from her breeder she takes after her mom for that part! She loves to run after a swirling leave, and there are many in these days! She drags me through the street from time to time! Somehow she can’t calm down outside. Inside she is a sweet little puppy. Ok, she is a grown big lady, but sweet as a puppy!

During our training sessions at her school on saturday mornings it is sometimes not funny anymore. It is a parc/forest, so many leaves swirling around while I try to learn her something and somehow I can’t get her attention during that one hour a week! That means too we can’t go through with passing her second exam this december as she is just to playful. Not that I mind so much! We love training with her and she loves going to school, so when it takes longer to get her attention enough, so be it! I do love the fact that she is still so playfull and not a dull dog and does everything blindless on command. Yes, it is easier to learn such a dog a trick, but it is more fun with Flopke! You never know what is in her mind that day and what she likes to do for you! Somedays she can be amazing and walks calmly besides me, like she never does anything else than obey! But especially the part of walking with attention is her worst trick. She can leave food unattended on my hand and eat it only when I say she can, even if she has to wait for my approval a full minute! Which is very long for a dog, especially a Labrador! She passed all the rules for the exam (we were tested last saturday), but failed the part of walking with attention, aswell in the field as in a slalom, crossing other dogs. She doesn’t pay attention to the other dogs, not even when they bark at her, but she pays lots of attention to her trainer and leaves or the smells on the field! Like she needs to go hunting! O well, we will just continue our school and see if she can pass her exam by June as I will miss some training sessions due to my upcoming surgery. I can’t do heavy work for 6 weeks after that, so not training Flopke while she is pulling me around!

Back to School!

Tja, dat terug naar school zit er hier in huis ook echt wel in hoor, ook zonder kinderen! Tja, die (kleine) hondjes moeten toch ook weer naar school? Dus afgelopen weekend (ja, het is al bijna weer weekend) zijn we naar de tweede les geweest. De eerste les, de week ervoor, was letterlijk in het water gevallen en werden we van het veld gehaald, omdat het bliksemde en regende. Vooral de bliksem is gevaarlijk en de honden worden daar ook erg onrustig van. Flopke verschool zich achter me en begon weer haar trucje uit de kast te halen om mij te laten weten dat ze echt bang was…..ze springt dan op mijn rug, alsof ze werkelijk in me wilt kruipen. We hebben zelfs terug-naar-school-kleding aan geschaft! Deze trui zit zo lekker WARM! Dus ja, die gaat nu naar school aan he. Alleen een regenjack erover en we zijn beschermd tegen de elementen! Ik ben nu al GEK op die trui! Rara hoe kan DAT nou!

Well, even without kids, we are in the mood of getting back to school in this house! Ye, the (little) dogs have to go to school too, isn’t it? So last weekend (ye I know it is almost again weekend) we went to our second class. The first class, the week before, was really washed away by the rain. We were taken off the field as there was lightning and thunder and lots of rain in the end and to not scare the dogs to much we left. Flopke showed me her trics again in the end to tell me she was really scared….she climbs/jumps on my back! It feels likes she really wants to curl up in my arms if she does that! But we did buy some going-back-to-school- clothes! This sweater is so warm! So yes, I wear it to school and all I need is a raincoat to protect me for the elements of nature! I just LOVE that sweater already! How can THAT be?

Hoe gaat het met……….How is……………..

Flopke gaat goed. Ze heeft niet meer gebraakt sinds die bewuste nacht afgelopen weekend en het helpt goed om haar meerdere keren per dag te voeren. Ze krijgt ook al haar volledige dag portie binnen, dus honger heeft ze niet en afvallen doet ze ook niet gelukkig! Verder is ze wel enorm aanhankelijk en vreselijk knuffelig! Je kunt wel erg met haar lachen hoor! Van de week lag ze lekker bij de grote ALFA baas aan zijn voeten op de grond samen TV te kijken (ja, dat doet ze heel gericht!) en opeens wil de BAAS opstaan om ff wat te drinken te gaan pakken, maar mevrouw zag dat helemaal niet zitten. Weet je wat ze deed? Ze richtte zich half op (achterover dus) en beet in zijn broekpijp en trok hem zo omlaag, alsof ze zeggen wilde: he, je mag nog niet weg, ik lig net zo lekker! Want ja, dan ligt ze altijd half op zijn voet! Nou, hou dan je gezicht maar in de plooi! Ons lukt dat dus echt niet he! Ja ONS, want baasje heeft een weekje vrij genomen plotseling vrijdag middag! Heerlijk zo’n weekje lekker samen wat lummelen in huis! En Flopke GENIET, want nu heeft ze ons allebei om zich heen! En ja, daar knap ik dan ook gelijk flink van op hoor, die kleine gek met haar streken! Flopke is doing much better! She hasn’t been throwing up since last weekend and it helps her to feed her several times a day smaller amounts of food, so her stomage doesn’t have to work that hard again yet. She does get her full amount of meat now daily, so it is a good thing, she can cope with that amount! She won’t loose weight this way! For the rest she is very playfull and cuddling with us.You can laugh so much with her! This week one day she was laying on the ground in front of hubbies chair, watching TV together (yes, she does that really) and suddenly the BIG BOSS wants to get up to grab a drink, but madam didn’t linke that! She got up a little with her breast, grabs his pants with her teeth and pulls him down, like she wants to say: “It ain’t time yet to leave me, I was laying down comfortable! Yes, she always lays her head on his feet! Well, it is hard not to laugh than! We couldn’t do that! Yes WE, as hubby took a week vacation suddenly last friday! Very relaxing just to hang around  together and do only what you like! And Flopke LOVES it to have us both around! And yes I do feel better watching my little puppy playing around and acting silly!

Flopke is weer bezig……Flopke is ill again…..

Flopke heeft de boel weer op stelten gezet! Vrijdag moest ik voor uitgebreide controles naar het UMCG en ben dan langere tijd weg en dan gaat Flopke gedurende die tijd in haar bench. Kong met vlees mee in de bench en nog een kauwbotje toe en mevrouwtje is het eerste uurtje wel ff bezig en gaat daarna dan lekker slapen is de ervaring. Zo ook waarschijnlijk afgelopen vrijdag, maar toen ik thuis kwam begon ze bijna direct te spugen nadat ze de sleutel in het slot had gehoord…ik had haar nog niet eens gezien! Eerst denk je :”och wat verkeerds gegeten misschien” (maar wat dan als je al die tijd in de bench hebt gezeten?). Toen ze later op de avond/nacht het eventjes grof ging overdoen tot drie keer toe gingen toch wat sneller de alarmbellen weer bij mij af! Toen ze ‘smorgens om half zes zaterdag er ook helder bloed bij begon te braken heb ik manlief maar wakker gemaakt en zijn we snel naar de dienstdoende DA gegaan. Flopke kreeg daar, na uitgebreid onderzoek – gelukkig geen bijzonderheden – een spuitje om het braken tegen te gaan met de uitdrukkelijke toevoeging dat als ze desondanks alsnog weer ging braken zaterdag of zondag, we toch echt weer naar de DA moesten gaan. Ze heeft ook een maagbescherming mee gekregen en we geven haar maar weer hele kleine beetje te eten elk uur. Eerst de boel even tot rust laten komen en langzaam opbouwen. Maar de schrik zat er weer goed in! Gelukkig gaat ze nu al een stukje beter en begint weer wat praatjes te krijgen, maar rust wel erg veel nog steeds. Maar dat lijkt me wel goed voor haar lijfje, dus lekker slapen Flopke!And yes, Flopke has surprised us again with getting ill! Friday I had to go to the hospital in the north of the country, so a long drive, and she goes always in her bench while I am away. She gets a big KONG filled with meat and a bone to chew on and that makes her tired, so she sleeps at least a little while when she finishes it. Probably she did the same last friday, but when I came home she immediately started to throw up. First you think: “Oh, she must have eaten something bad” (but what after a day in the bench?). When she started again later that night and threw up 3 times in a row I started to suspect there was more the matter. When she started to throw blood up I woke hubby and we went to the VET to have her checked out. Fortunately she was ok and the vet gave her an injection to stop the throwing up part and calm her stomage. She insisted too we would see again a Vet if she started to throw up again later that day or sunday. She also got some thick white fluid to protect her stomage and she will need it for a 4 days period. Now she is slowly get back to normal again, but still resting a lot and I think that is good as her body needs the rest to heal. Probably the huge throwing up made a bloodvessel collapse and that was the blood in the fluid I saw coming out. We give her tiny bits of food and it works well this way. She herself however wants a big bowl of meat to chew on…..not yet my love! You better take a nice nap again Flopke!

Rustig zomertje

Tja, veel doen we niet met de warmte, maar nu het dus wat minder warm is de laatste weken worden we samen weer actiever! Tot overmaat van ramp werd Flopke tijdens de hitte begin juli ook nog eens loops en toen was ze werkelijk helemaal niet meer vooruit te branden! Nog steeds is ze niet heel actief en speelt nog niet veel met haar speeltjes. Soms gaan we samen een eindje rennen/rijden en dat vindt ze heerlijk. Gelukkig is de loopsheid weer voorbij, maar de reuen vinden haar nog heel interessant, dus lekker ravotten is er nog niet bij. Daarvoor is het te lastig met die snuffelende reuen achter je aan. Ze heeft er wel een trucje voor om even van ze af te zijn: ze loopt het water in! Slimme meid! Eind augustus gaan we weer beginnen met de cursus Gehoorzame Hond II en mogen we dus weer elke zaterdag naar les en oefenen! Ook dat komt al weer dichterbij, dus de zomer is al bijna weer om!

Well, we don’t do much with the heat, but now it is less warm the last couple of weeks so we get a little more active! On top of it all Flopke’s 2nd heat started also during this hot weather, so she was extremely slow! Still she is not very active and even doesn’t play much with her toys. Sometimes we take a walk/run and she loves that. Now her heat is over, but the male dogs still love her smell, so playing around with them isn’t possible yet. That ain’t easy with those sniffling males behind your tale! But she found a tric to get rid of them when she gets tired of it: she walks into the water! Smart girl! End of August we will start our second class of Obedience and we can go triainign every saturday morning! That is getting close now, so summer is almost to an end now!

Flopke GESLAAGD voor haar eerste examen! Flopke past her first Obedience Exam!

Hier is het overtuigende bewijs: ons mooie certificaat! Het was een lange sessie en de hondjes waren het meer dan beu op het laatst, maar we hebben goed gescoord! Bij de theorie had ik maar 1 fout van de 20 en bij de praktijk hadden we maar 3x een +/- ( en twee waren zelfs wat twijfelachtig) en de rest van alle onderdelen was een vette +, dus een mooie score! In augustus gaan we verder met de GH2 en dat zal best flink trainen worden, want dan moeten ze los kunnen volgen ed. en dat is nog een beste kluif! Maar we hebben er altijd samen veel lol aan, dus gaan we lekker verder!

Here is the convinsing proof: our beautiful certificate of our first Obedience Exam! It was a long session today and the doggies were more than bored in the end, but we had a great score on points! For theory I had only one fault out of 20 questions and for practice we had only 3x a +/- and the rest of all parts was a big +, so a good score! In august we will continue with the class for GH2 (obedience class 2) and I expect it will be a lot of training as the dogs will have to be able to follow without a leash and that is quite hard to train I expect! But we always have a lot of fun together, so we will continue!

Last saturday mommy was having this try-out exam (she called it that, to me it was just work) and we passed it together and mommy was so proud of me! It made me happy to see her laugh so much…and I played along. When she is happy I am happy and love to jump around then. Now the real exam is a piece of cake! Later on we just played and played. And daddy was spoiling me with lots of treats too, so I had a good day! Today it is raining so much even I don’t like to go out! I am just catching up some sleep now as I was so tired after that training session yesterday! So please excuse me for not having any news………………

Hoe is mijn afgelopen week verlopen?

Hier is het verder erg rustig op het thuisfront. Ik heb mijn blogs wat aangepast en verder heb ik een google vertaler toegevoegd voor mijn buitenlandse lezers, zodat die makkelijk mijn hele blog kunnen vertalen in de taal van hun keuze! Handige gadget van google! Nu hoef ik niet meer elk bericht te vertalen en worden ze niet meer zo ellenlang! Momenteel ben ik nu eigenlijk voornamelijk aan het trainen met Flopke, zodat ze alle commando’s goed kent. We gaan binnenkort (19 & 26 juni) ook een workshop “fietsen met je hond” volgen op de KC en ik doe die dan met mijn scootmobiel, maar het principe van aanleren is hetzelfde. En we hebben ons ook al ingeschreven voor de Gehoorzame Hond II, volgend seizoen bij KC Pampus, maar dan moeten we wel slagen. We gaan nl. zaterdag 19 juni Gehoorzame Hond I examen doen. Dit houdt in dat ze de basis gehoorzaamheids commando’s moet kennen en goed uitvoeren en daarnaast heb ik een multiple choice theorie examen. Voor Flopke is het voornamelijk samen spelen als we trainen, maar ze blijft natuurlijk dan wel voor me werken. Ze heeft een enorme “will-to-please” en vindt het dus helemaal geweldig als ik met haar aan de gang ga. Ze kan ‘s morgens niet wachten tot ik de clicker pak, dat is het signaal om samen wat te gaan doen! Daarna ga ik meestal even lekker naar het park waar ze dan kan uitwaaien en gek doen zoveel als ze nodig heeft om de spanning van het trainen er weer uit te krijgen. Niet dat ik haar onder druk zet, maar voor haar geeft het toch wel wat spanning of ze het wel goed doet, vooral als ze zelf moet gaan uitvogelen wat ik van haar wil. En die kleine is zo slim! Daar sta ik vaak echt versteld van! Hoe ze diverse commando’s zelf weet te combineren! Je moet het eigenlijk eens zien om te geloven.

Pinksterweekend part II

Het bewijs is geleverd! Flopke kan nu echt kleine stukjes zwemmen! Ze heeft zelf haar eigen angst overwonnen, met kleine stapjes, dus als het erg warm wordt van de zomer durft ze nu lekker te spetteren in het water!

Dat ze een echte meid is bewijst ze in dit filmpje waar ze haar vriendje Bram helemaal gek probeert te maken! Het spelletje “pak me dan als je kan, je kan me toch niet krijgen” is duidelijk een favoriete uitdaging voor haar!

Wat je al niet kan doen op een lekkere zonnige feestdag! Heerlijk met andere labjes spelen is het ultieme genot op zo’n dag! Ok, andere mogen een beetje mee doen, maar Labjes zijn toch echt extra leuk!

Pinksterweekend part I

Flopke’s first adventure with the town cows. They are now in a small meadow near our house, on the edge of the parc where we always go to. Flopke was quite afraid of this huge new breed of dogs. This was filmed on the way home, after a good swim party. Later on I hope to get that video ready and show you all she really can swim now! I can prove it LOL! Oh, by the way….I also added a google translator to this page, so if I write in dutch you still can understand my stories. Just now I am thinking english!

PSP X2 digitaal gefröbel

Deze banner heb ik vandaag gemaakt in PSP. Ik heb dit programma al meer als een jaar en doe er eigenlijk veels te weinig mee. Op de labrador forums zie je de mooiste banners van ieders honden en dit vind ik zo mooi dat ik ook maar eens aan de gang ben gegaan. Ok, het is nog simpel, maar al doende leert men immers! Ik wil nu dan ook wat meer hiermee gaan doen en lesjes volgen om nog wat meer uit het programma te kunnen halen. Maar ik vind dit al heel mooi! Is ze niet schattig zo?

Eigenlijk zou ik er ballonnen vandaag bij hebben moeten voegen als ode aan mijn mannetje, die vandaag 60 jaar is geworden. Iets wat hij zelf nooit had gedacht te bereiken! Dus bij deze een lekkere taart! Die gaan we zaterdag in het echie eten met wat vrienden, dat weet hij alleen nog niet! Stttt…niet verklappen…het is een SUPRISE PARTY! Ja, hij leest mijn blog niet!

On the labrador forums I am a member off I see many beautiful banners made of pics from members labs and they are all so beautiful, so I decided to do a bit more with this programme. Ok, this banner I made is still simple, but doing it makes you learn! I will try to take some lessons and learn more how to use it better, to use it more to it’s full capacity. But I do like this banner already a lot! Isn’t she cute like this?

I should have added some balloons today as tribute to my hubby, who is celebrating his 60th birthday today. Something he would never have thought he would achieve! So therefor I added this vitual cake. For real we will eat it on saturday with some friends, but he doesn’t know that yet! Sttt…. do not tell…it is a real SUPRISE PARTY! Yes, he doesn’t read my blog!

How is Flopke doing these days?

Hoe gaat het met Flopke deze dagen? Nou, ze is inderdaad weer haar oude  speelse zelf voor het grootste deel van de tijd. Ze is nog steeds op een dieet van 4x per dag een maaltijd van KVV en dat weet ze tegenwoordig ook! Vanmiddag kwam ze ineens haar KONG naar me toebrengen, alsof ze zeggen wilde: “het is weer tijd voor mijn eten hoor vrouwtje” Natuurlijk kreeg ze dat ook, want ze had gelijk…. het was haar lunchtijd! Het is super om haar te zien smikkelen uit haar KONG ! Met een KONG eet ze minder snel en lijkt ze er ook meer van te genieten.  Well, she is indeed her playful self again most of the time. She is still on a diet of 4 times a day a small meal and she knows that now too! This afternoon she brought me her KONG as if she wanted to tell me it was time for some food again! Ofcourse she got it as she was right…it was her lunchtime! It is such fun to see her enjoy her KONG and eating her meal! With a KONG she eats less fast and seams to enjoy her food much more.

Update Flopke

Vandaag is het een klein feestje! Het is een jaar geleden, op dezelfde datum dat we onze eerste hond Gabber kregen, dat we Flopke bij de fokster, cq haar mama mochten ophalen! Wat had dit na de gebeurtenissen van vorige week een totaal andere dag geweest kunnen zijn, als het niet zo’n goede afloop had gekend! Gelukkig zijn we het weekend goed door gekomen. Er is geen eens een DA nodig geweest. We konden wel merken aan Flopke dat iedere dag een vergroting van haar porties voedsel ze nog niet aan kan, dus we gaan wat meer spreiden en weer terug naar 6x dd een maaltje. Half vlees (waar ik dus alle scherpe bot-stukjes uit mag zien te vissen) en half brokken, als je het over de hele dag bekijkt. Toen we alleen op vlees zaten gisteren kon je merken dat ze slomer werd, vaker ging liggen en meer sliep, dus dat haar lijfje harder moest werken. Vandaag staat ze dus weer op 6xdd en tot nu toe gaat het goed. Ze eet met veel smaak en hopelijk haalt ze vandaag voor het eerst haar totale dag-portie. Dan valt ze tenminste niet meer verder af. Drinken doet ze nog steeds niet echt goed, dus we weken nu de brokken, omdat ze anders echt er te weinig vocht voor binnen krijgt. Het water uit het meer heeft zijn charme al verloren, dus is het weer gewoon kraanwater, of ‘s morgens een kommetje met pro-biotica opgelost in water met wat vleesnat. Dat gaat er altijd goed in! Ik denk dat ze vooral nu een langzame opbouw van voedsel nodig heeft en nog veel rust. Woensdag mogen we weer voor controle naar de DA en hopelijk kunnen dan ook de hechtingen er al uit.

Today we have a small party! It is exactly one year back, on the same date as we got our first dog Buddy,  that we could pick up Flopke at the breeder and her mommy.  What could this day have been different after the event of last week, if it hasn’t had this lucky ending. This weekend has been good. No visit to the Vet was needed! We could see that Flopke couldn’t deal with every day a larger amount of food or less frequent, so we desided to go back to 6 times a day smaller amounts of food. Now she gets half fresh meat (grinded and I have to search for all the small pieces of bone in it as they can be to sharp) and half dried food as a total amount in a day. When she got only meat yesterday we could see her slowing down, much more laying down and sleep a lot more often, so her body was having a harder time dealing with the food given. Today she is getting 6 times again and so far, so good. She loves to eat and hopefully she will reach the total amount of minimum daily food today so she won’t loose any extra kilo’s. Drinking isn’t still very well and even the lake water isn’t her favorite anymore, so we put her dried food first in a bowl of water so it sucks it up before she eats it. That way she won’t be dehydrated anymore. She is also back on track with her pro-biotics in water with some meat juice over it. She loves to drink that! I think all we need to take care of now is a slow speed for getting her back on her normal daily meals and see to it that she takes lots of rest. Wednesday we have to go back to the Vet for a check up and hopefully she will take out the stitches by then.

Flopke

Met Flopke gaat het naar omstandigheden goed. Ze is al aardig jolig en speels van tijd tot tijd en heeft erg veel eetlust. Ze mag nu 5x dd kleine porties eten (totaal 100 gram licht verteerbare brokjes). Gisterenavond heeft ze nog flink gespuugd – gelukkig zonder bloedresten erin -, dus vanochtend toch maar even overlegt met de DA en wat medicijnen tegen braken opgehaald. Vandaag een spuitje (kan ik gelukkig zelf zetten) en vanaf morgen een pilletje gedurende 4 dagen. De spuit vond ze niet fijn, want het stofje prikte wat. Ze ging dus ff liggen rollen om het kwijt te raken voor haar gevoel en bleef echt bij mij uit de buurt. Tja, ik had het gedaan he! Maar goed een half uurtje later mocht ze haar brokjes en die kwam ze gretig halen! Nu nog zien dat ze wat meer zelf gaat drinken en dan gaan we echt de goede kant op. Gelukkig is ze nog steeds koortsvrij. Wel schommelt ze soms een beetje in temp. maar dat is bij mensen die herstellen ook, dus daar maak ik me niet zo druk over. Later vandaag nogmaals contact gehad met de DA, omdat ze echt te weinig dronk en die raadde aan om natuurwater te halen uit het meer. Vaak willen honden dat dan wel drinken. Ook mocht ze over gaan op haar vlees, omdat ze daar dan minder van zou kunnen braken. Dus kleine porties en half om half met haar brokjes per dag.

Looking at the circumstances Flopke is doing fine. She is already very playful and has a very good apetite. She can have 5 times daily a small meal (totally 100 gram dried food a day now). Yesterday evening she did throw up all she had eaten in the last four hours – without blood residues –, so this morning I have had some new contact with the Vet and could pick up some meds to prevent her from throwing up. Today an injection, which I can put myself, and tomorrow some pills for four days. She didn’t like the injection at all and the stuff was acking, so she rolled over the ground to get rid of the feeling and stayed away from me for a while. Yes, I was the bad guy! Half an hour later she could eat and she was very enthousiastic to pick those up from my hand. Now all she needs to do is drink more herself and than it will all be good. She still hasn’t any fever. She does have up and down temps, but with people that is normal too after surgery, so I am not afraid of that. Later today I had again contact with the Vet, as she didn’t drink at all. She advised me to take natural water from the lake and bring it home to let her drink it. More bacteria, but her stomage could deal with that, she said. She also advised me to start with her meat meals again, and take out the sharp grinded bone parts, as most dogs that throw up after this kind of surgery don’t do that so much when they are put back on their own normal food, which is fresh meat for Flopke. So small amounts of meat compared with dried food, half by half on a daily basis.

DA update

Nou, de DA was gelukkig heel tevreden. In de loop van de ochtend was Flopke al aardig bij getrokken, de temp gedaald (in die zin dat ze normaler aanvoelde), ze at goed en dronk zelf en werd zelfs wat speels! Bij onderzoek bij de DA gaf ze geen pijn aan, toen die aan haar buikje kwam en ook was haar buik goed soepel en niet hard, dus geen ontsteking! Gelukkig! We hebben even goed door gesproken waar we de komende dagen vooral goed op moeten letten en in welke situatie direct ingrijpen via DA noodzakelijk is. Nu weet ik even waar ik aan toe ben en ben daardoor rustiger zelf. Oud bloed moet je wel serieus nemen in dit geval, vertelde ze, omdat het kan duiden op een lekkage in de maag(wand). Bij het sluiten van de maag is ie dubbelzijdig gehecht en toen lekte het niet, maar ze gaf aan dat juist door het gaan eten en drinken dit wel kan gebeuren (door de uitrekking en druk op de wand) en dan is dus ook een spoed bezoek aan de DA noodzakelijk. Helder rood idem dito. En natuurlijk echte koorts. We hebben zelfs even voor de zekerheid beide thermometers vergeleken, zodat ik wist of ik op die van onszelf af kon gaan. Ze had bij de DA bij beide thermometers weer een normale temp, 38,5-39,0. Verder een goed voedsel opbouw schema meegekregen en vooral hoeveelheden qua gewicht ed. Nu krijg ze nog weinig, maar vanaf morgen mag het langzaamaan meer worden. Ja, ze zal wat hongerig zijn, maar geeft dat niet zelf aan. Wel trek, maar niet echt schreeuwende honger. Met een weekje zit ze dan weer op 4x dd carnibest (haar normale vleesvoer), dus dat is ook niet heel lang! Maar al met dus heel goed nieuws! Ukkepukje is uitgeteld nu! Tja, was weer spannend allemaal he en ze was echt hyperactief en nieuwsgierig bij de DA en wederom in de ambu! Vreet energie ook natuurlijk! Vanavond, voor het slapen gaan, werd ze wakker omdat ik op stond van de bank en moest gelijk overgeven. En ook best wel een behoorlijke portie, dus morgenochtend toch maar weer de DA bellen hoe ik het voedings schema aan moet passen, nu ze bij een geringe uitbreiding al gaat overgeven. Well, the Vet was satisfied. During the morning hours the temp went down and back to normal. She drank herself and ate well. Her abdomen was well touchable by the Vet and that means no infection or inflamation. We got some good advise what to do in what kind of situation. It makes me more relax to know what to do when. Old blood was something to take very seriously as it ment that there might be a stomage leak. During the surgery the Vet said she stitched the stomage from the inside and from the outside to close it all up and it wasn’t leaking then, but by eating and drinking and therefor stretching the stomage up it could happen to start leaking. Also fresh blood was an ER sign and of course fever. I also got some good nutrition advise how to build it all back to normal without overfeeding her and hurting her stomage to much. So it was all good news! She is now exhausted as she was very curious at the Vets and also during the drive in the rescue team ambulance. So she will need lots of sleep still, althou she doesn’t think so herself as she was really hyper active this evening! Loved it to play and even run around in the corridor. This evening, before heading off to bed, she woke up when I stood up from the couch and right then and there she threw up and not a little bit, so I guess I better contact the Vet again tomorrow to hear if I need to adjust the nutrition scedule now she still trows up after a little adjustment this evening (she could eat 2 spoons instead of one every 1,5 hour instead of every hour). Update

Vannacht ging het wat minder met Flopke. Ze had goed geslapen tot 3 uur en toen werd ze wakker en begon te spugen. Wat oud bloed en maagzuur, maar geen voedsel. Ook haar temp was abnormaal voor een hond (37,6) en vanochtend haalde ik net de 37,9, dus vanmiddag gaan we ff voor controle naar de DA. Ook omdat we een goed voedings opbouw advies nodig hebben, zodat we haar maagje niet overbelasten. Die kleine gek is trouwens gisterenavond al weer aan het schooieren geweest tussen de struiken en had een vogel bot te pakken. Gelukkig kon ik dat weer op tijd uit dat bekkie krijgen, maar je schrikt weer! Nu maar hopen dat ze niet nog wat klein bot spul binnen heeft gekregen, maar ik denk dat ze dat dan wel vannacht had uitgespuugd. Wat ben ik blij met de dierenambulance, die ons elke keer zo super goed vervoert! Petje af voor die mensen, want het is grotendeels vrijwilligerswerk! Door hun snelheid en de snelheid van de DA is Flopke van de week wel gered!

Last night Flopke was doing less ok. She had slept well till 3 o’clock and woke up to throw up. It was some old blood and other fluids, but no food. Her temperature wasn’t normal either for a dog (to low) and also this morning I couldn’t get it much higher althou it was a little better, so this afternoon we will visit the Vet again, so we can also get a good feeding advise to prevent an overload of food, hwich will hurt her stomage. The little fool was searching for food in the bushes last night on our last round! She found some bones of birds, but again I could take it away from her before she could swallow that too! Again you get scared! Now I just hope she didn’t get small bones fragments inside, but I think if she did she would have throwed it up last night. I am so glad with the animal rescue squad, who are always bringing us to well everywhere. I admire those people a lot as most of them are volunteers! It was for their speed and the DA’s speed in surgery that we could rescue Flopke tuesday!

Slecht nieuws/ Bad news

Ons Flopke is een stuiterende puber momenteel, maar gisteren middag lag ze lekker naast me te slapen. Opeens wordt ze wakker en komt nieuwsgierig bij me kijken. Daarna terug op haar kussen achter mijn bureaustoel. En ik kijk achterom en waarschijnlijk met die beweging veeg ik een borduurnaald van mijn tafel (bleek later). Flopke als de kippen erbij, springt erop af! Ja, raak, ze had de borduurnaald te pakken bleek later! Ik zag haar wat van de grond vissen en dacht dat het wat losse kleine draadjes waren. Ik kijk nog in haar bekkie, maar op 't moment dat ik die open trek slikt ze het door. In de veronderstelling dat het om een pluisje ging, ging ik gewoon weer door met wat ik deed. Maar even later kon ik mijn borduurnaald nergens meer vinden op mijn bureau. Tja, toen sloeg de paniek enigszins toe! O jé, als ze die nu net maar niet inslikte! Ik overal gezocht, maar kon niks meer vinden. Dus toen maar in allerijl de DA gebeld en die had maar één opmerking "hierheen komen als de sodemieter!" Tja, toen wederom de dierenambulance ingeschakeld (waar ze een maand eerder al in gezeten had op verdenking van een baarmoeder ontsteking) en gelukkig waren we toen snel ter plekke. Met wat röntgen foto's werd na een half uur vast gesteld dat ze hem inderdaad ingeslikt had. Dus spoed OK! Als ik een paar uur later was geweest zou die naald zijn gaan wandelen (hij zat nu in de maag in voedsel gestopt) en was ze door alle perforaties niet meer te redden geweest! Nu had ze een paar kleine gaatjes in de maagwand, die ook gehecht zijn. Om 19.00 werden we gebeld dat ze wakker was, maar nog maar net haar koppie op kon tillen. We mochten haar pas halen als ze goed kon staan, wat rond een uur of 20.00 het geval was. Toen belde de DA of we haar asjeblieft wilden halen, want ze gaf aan dat ze naar huis wilde. Wat een stressy middag was dat weer, vooral omdat ik bij Flopke wilde blijven als ze haar onder zeil zouden maken. Dat roept dan heel veel herinneringen aan je oude hondjes op, die je in hebt moeten laten slapen. Erg emotioneel dus! Gelukkig heeft manlief met vliegende vaart de overtocht gemaakt van Zoetermeer naar Almere en kon me steunen tijdens de OK. We mochten in de wachtkamer wachten gelukkig! Toch een aardig jaapje geworden:Vannacht heeft Ukkepuk niet goed geslapen. Ze durfde zich duidelijk niet te ontspannen en laten gaan. Misschien als reactie op de narcose, wat voor haar de eerste keer was. Nadat ze een tijdje had lopen drentelen heb ik haar in bed genomen toen ze daarom vroeg en toen ze eindelijk tegen me aan lag ontspande ze en viel in slaap. Tot 2 uur ging dat goed en daarna wilde ze op haar kussen voor het bed liggen. Ook daar was ze redelijk onrustig en sliep niet goed, maar misschien komt dat wel weer. Ze wil erg dicht bij me zijn. Straks mogen we proberen of ze wat wil eten. Hele kleine beetjes per uur. Drinken wil ze ook nog niet uit haarzelf, dus haar vannacht maar een spuitje met water gegeven toen ik merkte dat ze wel dorst had. Ze smakte de hele tijd en had duidelijk een droge mond. Kan ook van de narcose komen. Hopelijk gaat ze dat ook weer zelf doen in de loop van de dag. Als we de koorts bij haar weg kunnen houden hebben we tegen het weekend weer het ergste gehad denk ik. Voorlopig heeft ze hier nog geen last van. Duimen dat dit zo blijft! Gelukkig kan ik elk moment van de dag de DA bellen voor advies of om langs te komen, dus dat geeft wel een veilig gevoel! Nog steeds heel alert vanmorgen, maar uiteindelijk won de slaap Ook heeft ze vanmorgen ieder uur wat gegeten en een paar flinke slokken zelf gedronken. Ze plast en poept al goed. Altijd het eerste teken of het lijf goed werkt, dus dat is een goed teken. Ook heeft ze nog steeds geen koorts (afkloppen!).

Our Flopke is like is jumping ball normally these days, but yesterday afternoon she was laying down beside my chair calmly. Suddenly she wakes up and comes looking at me curiously. After that she went back to her pillow behind my chair. I looked back and with that turn I think   a neeedle slipped from my desk to the ground. Flopke jumped up to grab that thing of me. Yes, she got it! I saw her licking something from the ground and thought it was a bundle of small threads. I looked in her mouth and that moment she swallowed what she had picked up. Thinking it was this thread I went back to work on my blocks. But shortly after that I couldn’t find my needle anymore. Panic attack was near! Ok, she might have swallowed it???? I looked everywhere, but couldn’t find it back. So hasty I called the Vet and she said only one thing: come here as quick as you can. So I called the animal rescue squad and they picked us up. Hubby was at work and with an 2 hours drive he couldn’t make it on time. And I don’t own a car myself and even can’t drive. With some x-rays they found the needle in her stomage, so an emergency operation! If I would have been a few hours later she would have died of all the small holes the needle would have made in the inside of her body. She would slowly bleed to death. The small holes she had in her stomage are stitched up too now. The cut is quite large (see pic)! We could take her home by 8 pm and for the rest of the evening and night she was laying down besides me. This night she didn’t sleep well. She was afraid to go to sleep and relax. After I took her in my bed she relaxed and fell asleep for a few hours. Later on, when she woke up, she wanted to lay down on her pillow in front of my bed. That was a good sign. She gained some confidence! She was still not drinking, so I put some water in her mouth with an injection needle (without the needle on top ofcourse, just the plastic tube). She liked that as her mouth was dry (by the aneasthesia) If we can keep the fever away I think the most dangerous part will be over by the weekend!  Just crossing my fingers she will pull through ok! At least I still have her around! Gladly I can call the Vet any minute today for advise or to come and see her.  That makes me feel safe! This morning she was still very alert (2nd pics), but finally the sleep won (3rd pics)! She also ate this morning every hour some cookies (special food) and drank herself a few large sips. She also toileteries well, the first sign her body is working fine. And still no fever (knock on wood!).
